Austin's first Festival of Plagiarism (FOP)

Friday, November 3rd, 8 pm – Sunday November 5th 2006

Enchanted Forest 1412 Oltorf near Lamar

Arguably there is no such thing as a completely original idea. Many artists have their expressive creativity suppressed by the unrealistic pressure to be original. The Festival of Plagiarism is a chance for different artists working in different media to interact and cross pollinate freely. Every work of Art is an original. No work of Art is an original. Why should good things only happen once?

Based on this we present to you Austin’s First Annual Festival of Plagiarism brought to you by the Make Austin Weird ad hoc cultural social workers local 5 and the folks down at the Enchanted Forest.

Plagiarism is easy! Plagiarism is fun! Plagiarism is anti commoditization-Plagiarism is complete freedom!

We are accepting art in all mediums, especially performance art of all kinds. Liberate yourself! Come on out to Austin’s First Annual Festival of Plagiarism- November 3-5. Come and make a satire of or an homage to or just outright steal any form artistic creation that was made by someone other than you.

Please note:

1- No art is to be sold at AFOP. Due to its nature and legality AFOP is strictly a non commercial event. Ideas can not be owned.

2- There are NO registration fees for artists, and we will take plagerized art up till the end of the festival.

3- The only sole prerequisite is that all work must be a copy of or based on previous work by another artists. At the enchanted forest site space will be made for an open air DIY gallery along the wooded paths and a managed stage with PA and lighting. Display space and stage time on a first come first served basis.

$5 spectator donation asked at door to defray costs but none turned away for lack of funds.
